WebVisum
WebVisum is a collaborative Firefox accessibility add-on and service that empowers blind and visually impaired Internet users by providing tools that allows them to customize and fix various aspects of web pages so that they are easier to read, navigate, and interact with. WebVisum also provides a revolutionary tool that can automatically solve CAPTCHAs which grants a user access to previously inaccessible web sites.
What can you do with WebVisum?
- Add a name to page links that have no names or that are poorly labeled.
- Add a name to page titles that have no names or that are poorly labeled.
- Add a name to page forms that have no names or that are poorly labeled.
- Add a name to images that have no names or that are poorly labeled.
- Extract text from navigational image menus.
- Solve CAPTCHAs
The changes that you make to a web page are saved and uploaded to your WebVisum account and not only will those changes appear the next time that you visit that page, but now others will see the changes that you made too. That is the real power of WebVisum. Each person is paving the way for other WebVisum users who will land on a page that was previously inaccessible or hard to follow.
Here's an example. While logged into my WebVisum account I visited www.Google.com and the page title had been incorrectly labeled as gmail with no other information. You can imagine how confusing that may be to a person with poor or no eyesight that relies on correct page titles for navigation so I simply right clicked on the page, selected Label page, and I changed the name to Google Web Search English Homepage. Now any WebVisum user who visits www.Google.com will see a more accurate page title.
Another great feature of WebVisum is its ability to solve those terrible CAPTCHAs that can prevent access to web sites for those who cannot see them to solve them. With just a few clicks or key strokes, WebVisum will solve a CAPTCHA and automatically send the results to a user's clipboard for easy pasting into the web page's form field that requires the CAPTCHA code.
