Firefox logo and a gear

A Firefox extension developer is needed to redevelop the Highlighter extension. The extension is extremely helpful for people with visual impairments but it needs work . Written permission has been given to modify Highlighter from the developer. The ability to bookmark highlights and add a clear highlight button is basically all that is needed.
The technology for bookmarking a highlighted web page is already available through the Web Marker extension. The reasons why we'd like to see the Highlighter extension worked on are;
Web Marker only uses 2 colors. This makes the extension unusable to people who can't see those colors.
With highlighter, you can have up to 5 different highlight colors at a time, the colors can be customized, and both the text and background colors can be set.
Web Marker uses a full toolbar or individual buttons, but you need several buttons to properly operate the extension.
Highlighter use a single button and you right click on it to access all five highlighter colors.
A clear highlight button is needed to clear selected highlighted text.
And the most important feature is that Highlighter needs the ability to bookmark a highlighted web page. Web Marker has this feature.
It would be very helpful to persons with visual impairments if they could bookmark the highlighted pages so that when they revisit that page, they don't have to search through the whole page again for the content that they were interested in. Less searching for text means less eye strain.
This extension would obviously be help to everyone especially for students doing research.

Thank you for your time. Please use the Contact Page to contact me (Ken Saunders) to discuss the redevelopment of the Highlighter extension. It would make a world of difference in many Internet users lives.

Highlight Tracker Icons
Each highlight that you have on a web page is marked with a color coded tracker icon that appears when you scroll to a section of a page where the highlight is out of view. You simply click on the tracker icon and the page will automatically scroll to the tracker icon's corresponding highlight.
